Broadcast Calculators
Check durations, commercial breaks and program runtimes with frame-accurate 29.97 drop-frame timecode.
Duration Calculator
Add or subtract durations in 29.97 drop-frame timecode (HH:MM:SS;FF). Frames run from 00 to 29.
Timecode example
00:00:59;29 + 00:00:00;01 = 00:01:00;02.
Commercial Break Calculator
Add spot quantities and frame-accurate custom durations to check a break in 29.97 DF.
Preset timing & example
Presets use 450, 900 and 1,800 frames for nominal 15-, 30- and 60-second spots. Enter the measured timecode as a custom item when material differs. Four 30-second spots + two 15-second spots = 00:02:30;04 (4,500 frames).
Program Runtime Calculator
Add segments, breaks, promos and other timed elements. Live programming can exceed planned durations.
Runtime example
00:22:00;02 of programming + 00:07:59;28 of breaks fills a 00:30:00;00 window.
All calculations use integer frames at 29.97 fps (30000/1001). Drop-frame skips timecode numbers, not video frames: ;00 and ;01 are skipped at the start of every minute except every tenth minute. Durations are measured from zero; totals can exceed 24 hours without wrapping.
